Delta Air Lines is taking a gamble with its decision to impose a $2 surcharge ($1 l-way) on all domestic tickets sold via distribution channels other than its website, including direct sales through its own ticket offices and reservations centers. The charge applies for each published fare component (most roundtrip tickets are constructed using two fare components)

Delta said the surcharge is necessary to cover "rising distribution costs," particularly costs associated with the traditional CRS channels.
