Chautauqua, CCAir, Mesa post gains for quarter.

Chautauqua Airlines of Indianapolis, an independently owned US Airways Express partner operating in the U.S. Northeast and Midwest, reported record operating profit of $3.7 million and net income of $2 million for the third quarter ended Sept. 30, 1998, on revenues of $22 million. The financial results represent 96% and 103% improvements in operating and net profits, respectively, from the third quarter of 1997. Load factor for the third quarter increased 12% to 56% systemwide, compared with 50% for the year-earlier period.

President and CEO Ed Wegel said the positive results for the third quarter were due to a successful strategy for increasing traffic and revenue through marketing programs and other incentives for travelers. …
