The curtain.

The curtain has rung down on Tata Group's attempt to set up a domestic airline. Tata announced on Sept. 1 that it was withdrawing its proposal, because of the Indian government's delaying tactics and what it called 'double standards." The proposal has been making the rounds of the various ministries since early 1995.

Those who opposed the Tata airline project, including several members of Parliament, based their objections on the fact that there has been negative growth in traffic in the last two years and launch of another airline would undermine the fragile recovery of state-owned Indian Airlines. …
