China Airlines.

China Airlines announced an interim net loss of NT$1.6 billion ($44 million) for the first six months of 1998. Turnover was NT$23.7 billion. The loss is the carrier's first in 12 years and was attributed by CAL to the Asian financial crisis, the haze problem in southeast Asia, the recent fatal crash of a CAL A300 and epidemics in various areas that reduced the volume of traffic as well as forcing a drop in ticket prices. …
