Antoine Bouvier, new president and CEO of Am, said the company is still serious about developing a family of regional jets, although the window of opportunity for such a venture is closing. Bouvier's remarks were made during a press conference in Toulouse announcing an agreement to strengthen ties between the two partners of ATR, Aerospatiale and Alenia.

The agreement consolidates marketing, sales and customer-support activities into a joint entity, which forms the latest iteration of ATR that began in 1981. In addition, the company will include engineering, design and manufacturing capabilities. Within the new organization, the two companies will "explore opportunities for new aircraft programs", and increase the scope of the two partners' cooperation in the regional market, both for turboprop and jet aircraft, according to ATR. …
