SAS's first-half pretax profits surged 31% to Sekl.46 billion ($178.2 million) on a 4.4% rise in revenues to Sekl9.8 billion, as aircraft sales, strong hotel operations and cost savings attributed to membership in Star Alliance compensated for modest overall 1.6% traffic growth for the period to June 30.

Six-month operating profits grew 14% to Sek2.2 billion, despite a 22% decline in the second quarter to Sekl.4 billion.
