U.K., EUC GIRD FOR NEXT ROUND

The U.K. and the EU Commission headed for a battle of wills as competition chief Karel Van Miert reiterated his opposition to sale of slots, while John Bridgeman, DG of the U.K. Office of Fair Trading argued that American Airlines and British Airways he allowed to sell slots they are forced to cede. He valued them at around $825 million.
