British Aerospace opens U.S. West Coast support facility.

British Aerospace opens U.S. West Coast support facility Orange County--In a move to increase on-shore support for North American customers British Aerospace has opened its first major regional customer support operation, outside of its U.S. headquarters in Washington, D.C., in Southern California. Based near Orange County's John Wayne Airport, the new facility combines corporate and airline marketing, customer support and a spares depot for British Aero-space-produced aircraft.

During a ceremony held in Orange County, BAe President Sir Edward Anson called the consolidation of the company's West Coast operations "a significant step in the continuing program" to support customers on this side of the Atlantic.

Sir Anson also commented that the dedication "makes British Aerospace officially a part of Southern California," although the U.K. manufacturer has "been involved in the California aerospace industry for years," primarily in using West Coast subcontractors for its civil and military aircraft. …
