World's airlines do majority of training in-house

Although many airlines perform extensive training for their fellow carriers, and derive significant revenue from this source, the majority of training of flight crews, cabin attendants and other personnel is an in-house function, a special Air Transport World survey indicates.

Survey responses were received from some 90 airlines around the world. Nearly 90% of those providing information on their training practices do at least part of their flight crew training in-house, and almost all the carriers said they train their own cabin crews and maintenance personnel.

However, some 35% of the airlines also said they conduct training for other carriers, and for some this activity creates important revenues. …
