RAA members tackle new challenges

The Regional Airline Association's Annual Fall Meeting yielded contrasting images of the industry. On one hand members reached a consensus for responding to recent safety recommendations by the National Transportation Safety Board. (See NTSB story, page 76.) "We felt that we couldn't gamble with an indecisive response,' noted one airline executive. But members shelved discussion concerning the Federal Aviation Administration's foreign repair policies. And members practically deserted vendors' hospitality suites in favor of seeing the town's entertainment and gambling facilities. One manufacturer's representative sardonically commented. "If you look at hospitality suites as available airline seats, we never came close to a breakeven load factor. …
