Farnborough impressions. (Farnborough air show, 1986) (editorial)

Editorial: Farnborough impressions Farnborough--Society of British Aerospace Companies reports, as the organizers of such events as the Farnborough air show usually do, that this year's event was the biggest and best ever. And as these things have been going in recent years, SBAC is probably right.

As we report the second part of our coverage elsewhere in this issue, attendance was up 13% over the 1984 show for the entire eight days. It seemed to us that the trade day attendance was way up over past year. The fence along the runway was lined from end to end for the afternoon flying demonstrations, and the exhibit halls were actually crowded at times. We can recall trade days at Farnborough and Paris, for that matter, when people manning the exhibit stands were mostly talking to each other. Not at this year's Farnborough. Public days at this year's Farnborough were as crowded as ever as people came out to see the show and enjoy some of England's finest summer-type weather.
