Big numbers, big issues It's Farnborough time once again. The chalets are again being erected at the venerable Royal Aircraft Establishment facility in the English countryside, and the world's aerospace manufacturers are making final preparations to exhibit their wares to the ever growing global marketplace. Once again the Society of British Aerospace Companies is promising the August 31-September 7 show will be the biggest and best ever. Judging from the numbers in Arthur Reed's preview report on page 58 of this issue, SBAC is probably right.

We have again prepared a preview for our airline industry readers along with our guide of exhibitors, stand and chalet assignments to help you make it through the show. We have also tried to tell you what to look for, especially the new participants and the major air transport items that will be appearing for the first time. Two of the more exciting transports that will be making their first Farnborough appearance are the British Aerospace ATP shown on the cover, and Fokker's new Fokker 50, both derivatives of proven designs with the same new powerplants, and generally aimed at similar markets. …
