New organization takes over IATA's U.S. cargo functions

The new International Air Transport Association Cargo Network Services Corp. (CNS) is off and running. The airlines and air freight forwarders who opt to use its services will notice little difference at first from the services formerly provided by the IATA Cargo Agency Program (CAP), which was killed as a result of Civil Aeronautics Board's tilt toward its goal of free competition. But in a short while CNS services will be even better than those provided by its predecessor, promises Brian P. Barrow, president of the new corporation. He described the plans of the organization at the first membership meeting of the also-new Air Cargo Association (ACA) at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
