RAA meeting preview: officials worry over growing pressures.

Commuter/regional airlines heading for the annual spring meeting and suppliers mart of the Regional Airline Association, scheduled for April 23-25, are jubilant over last year's record operations, but are equally apprehensive over the trend of events in government attitude and control.

Their quest in Washington, D.C., through the meeting rooms and corridors of the Shoreham Hotel, is to gain the ears of government and congressional officials, to seek understanding and support for their problems.

Operationally, 1984 was a banner year. More than 203 regional and commuter carriers flew 4.2 million revenue passenger-miles to airlift 26.1 million people--a 29% increase over 1983 RPMs and a 20% gain in boardings. …
