Comair takes delivery of first SF-340.

Cincinnati--Comair rolled out its first Saab-Fairchild 340 airliner in late July at a celebration filled with news of the regional carrier's future.

Sharing the fete organized to tout Comair's decision to purchase 12 new SF-340s was word about an accelerated delivery schedule, an expanded route structure, agreement with its newly organized pilot group and, at the top, an announcement linking Comair to Delta Air Lines.

"Comair will join three other regional carriers to become the fourth 'Delta Connection,'" explained Joe Cooper, Delta's senior VP-marketing. "Starting September 1 Comair flights will share the same 'DL' Delta designator for those flights which facilitate connections with Delta flights," he said. "'Delta Connection' carriers are carefully chosen based on their general record of excellence, the sophistication of their flight equipment, and their commitment to provide their customers with the highest levels of service. …
