It is show time once again. This year it is Farnborough, and as is our custom we have prepared a preview of some of the major exhibits expected to be at this year's September 2-9 event in the English countryside. We do this to assist airline people in an attempt to make it easier for them to find the items relating to their industry.

Major air shows such as Farnborough and Paris are good events for airline people to attend. It is not that many airlines actually buy airplanes at these shows. Indeed it would be rare if an airline bought a 747 because of an air show. But they are good places to take measure of the airframe and engine industry, to see what is going on these days.

Generally a highly placed executive with an airline is made to feel welcome at these events. In fact a person in such a position should never have to buy a meal at one of these gatherings. …
