Initial BAe 146s delivered to PSA. (British Aerospace, Pacific Southwest Airlines)

Hatfield--British Aerospace kicked up its corporate heels just a little in handling over here the first of 20 146-200 airliners ordered by Pacific Southwest Airlines, of San Diego, for its high-frequency network in California and the adjoining states. After Sir Austin Pearce, chairman of BAe, had formally presented the logbook of the aircraft to Paul C. Barkley, PSA's CEO, scenes not normally associated with this staid manufacturing facility ensued as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck emerged from the cabin to be mobbed by flagwaving and cheering local schoolchildren.

Barkley posed patiently with Donald, BAe engineers, their white work coats flying, indulged in an impromptu soft-shoe shuffle with Mickey, and the band of the Royal Air Force College, Cranwell, oompahed its way through a selection of musical numbers from various Walt Disney films. …
