UA, CO shareholders okay merger.(NewsBriefs)

Shareholders of United Airlines and Continental Airlines approved the merger of the two carriers, clearing the way for the deal to proceed after the US Dept. of Justice ended its investigation in late August. DOJ noted that UA and CO had agreed to transfer 18 slot pairs at Newark International to Southwest Airlines, which resolved its "principal competition concerns." According to DOJ, the slot transfer "is through a lease that permanently conveys to Southwest all of Continental's rights in the assets, in compliance with FAA rules. …
