Airbus, Boeing sales strong despite downturn.(NewsBriefs)(Brief article)

In what President and CEO Tom Enders characterized as "probably the second most successful Farnborough for us," Airbus received orders and commitments from 10 customers for 256 aircraft worth $40.5 billion including 247 firm.

Etihad ordered 20 A320s, 25 A350 XWBs and 10 A380s plus options for five A320s, 10 A350s and five A380s. The firm orders are valued at $12 billion. It took purchase rights for a further 15 A320s, 15 A350s and five A380s. Asiana Airlines ordered 30 A350s valued at more than $7 billion plus 10 options. Aviation Capital Group ordered 23 A320 family aircraft valued at $1.8 billion. Saudi Arabian Airlines ordered eight A330-300s.

Qatar Airways signed an MOU for four A321s plus two options. …
