Southwest Airlines decided to maintain its open-seating policy but will change its boarding process to eliminate "the perceived cattle call" experience at gates in which its passengers "camp out in their boarding line." Under the new boarding system launching this month, passengers still will be given cards at check-in denoting A, B and C groups as now, but the cards also will contain numbers 1-60 and passengers will board in groups as their numbers are called. …
