Boeing shuffles 787 management as delays mount.(FINANCIAL RESULTS, NEW DEALS, AND REPORTS FROM EVERY CORNER OF THE GLOBE)(Brief article)

Problems with the 787 assembly led to the replacement of program head Mike Bair on Oct. 16. Announcement came a week after the company conceded that its plan put forward in September to overcome production delays in time to deliver the first 787 to ANA on schedule next May was too ambitious and delivery now will take place in late November or early December 2008. First flight of the Dreamliner has been pushed back approximately six months to the end of the 2008 first quarter.

Bair's replacement as VP and GM of the program is Integrated Defense Systems VP-Missile Defense Systems Pat Shanahan. Bair, who led the Dreamliner program since its 2004 launch, is the new VP-business strategy and marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. …
