SAN ANTONIO--The 3-day 1995 RAA convention took on the air of a soap opera involving the group and its associate members, specifically manufacturers, who feel under-represented.

The upshot was creation of two committees by the board of directors that will deal with safety and public relations. The board also proposed a 12-person associate-member council and adjusting the criteria for airline membership.

The new Aviation Safety Committee, to be made up of safety directors of member airlines, will provide: A forum for exchange of safety information; a body of expertise for airlines to examine safety issues to determine appropriate action, and a resource on safety issues for member airlines and RAA staff.
