British Airways and Korean Air at the end of July pled guilty to participating in conspiracies to manipulate fares and surcharges throughout this decade, while separately Qantas said it set aside $40 million "to cover a potential fine that may be imposed" by the US Dept. of Justice.

The carriers are among several under investigation by DOJ and the UK Office of Fair Trading since early 2006 for cargo surcharges.
