Better late....(Denver, CO's new airport)

DENVER--With fog, snow and freezing rain swirling around its distinctive terminal roof peaks like the controversy that clouded its construction, Denver International Airport surprised its critics by opening as advertised on Feb. 28, with only the most minor of glitches. Several key players in the drama that saw the 53-sq.-mi. airport's cost escalate from $1.3 billion to $4.2 billion and its scheduled opening stall for 16 months (ATW,, 9/94), were on hand, as were 1,822 media representatives.
