When is news about airline industry growth not good news? When Greenpeace gets hold of it, as in this press release, a portion of which is reprinted below:

Responding to figures showing May 2007 will see more flights across the world than any other month in history, Greenpeace Director John Sauven warned that the growth in aviation poses a huge threat to the environment. "The binge-flying culture is taking off worldwide, and the price will be paid by the victims of climate change. Every one of these flights releases huge quantities of greenhouse gas at high altitude, where it does immense harm to the global climate. Other sectors of the economy are working to reduce their carbon footprints, but the airline industry is going in the opposite direction. …
