Qantas chairman out in wake of failed APA bid.(News Briefs)

Qantas Chairman Margaret Jackson said she will not stand for reelection at the company's November annual meeting following the failure of Airline Partners Australia's bid to acquire the airline. She had campaigned openly in favor of the deal, which was supported by the Qantas board. But APA was unable to garner a simple majority of shares for its A$11.1 billion ($9.11 billion) bid as was required by the May 4 deadline in order to send it to a second round.

Citing voting irregularities, APA briefly sought to extend the offer but this was rejected by regulators. …
