BASLE--TEA, Switzerland made headlines last year when it tried to break into the Swiss domestic market, proposing fares substantially under those charged by Swissair and its subsidiary., Crossair, which under Swiss law are the only national carriers 'allowed to operate domestically. Their rates are among the highest in the world, although they were reduced slightly following the TEA initiative.
