Airline Media Public Relations Award: American Airlines.

Public relations departments have not been immune from the downsizing, rightsizing and general restructuring that has gripped the airline industry over the past few years. For those on the outside looking in, this has meant less access to airline executives and fewer opportunities to understand the internal workings of the airline. For those on the inside, the result of this downsizing is that the corporate message has been lost, because there are no writers to craft it, nor messengers to deliver it.
