Industry Service Award: Gerald Baliles and Herman De Croo.

The airline industry is a highly complex web of inter-related elements. The ability to understand the causes and effects of the problems that the industry is facing, and to translate that understanding into clear, concise language is a rare and significant achievement.

ATW's 1994 Industry Service Award winners produced two government commission reports on the airline industry that not only are clear, responsible and responsive to the key industry issues but they also provided for their governments a map that lays out the path to profitability for the industry as a whole.

The co-winners of this year's award are Gerald Baliles, chairman of the United States National Commission to Ensure a Strong Competitive Airline Industry, and Herman De Croo, chairman of the Comite' des Sages for Air Transport to the European Commission. …
