The express delivery giant ratcheted up its focus on the fast-growing China market, unveiling plans last year to invest $150 million in a massive Asia/Pacific air hub at Guangzhou Baiyun. The hub, which will replace FedEx's Subic Bay facility, will be operational by 2008 and is the key component of its rapidly expanding presence in the world's most populous nation.

FedEx Express, the airline unit, received rights to operate three additional weekly China cargo frequencies in March, bringing its total to 26, the most of any US operator. That followed the company's $400 million purchase of Tianjin Datian W. Group's 50% stake in the FedEx-DTW International Priority express joint venture, which is now a wholly owned FedEx subsidiary. …
