The Chile-based carrier continues a rapid fleet expansion with a 767-300ER added in the 2006 first quarter and eight A319s slated for delivery this year. Overall, it plans to have taken delivery of 46 new aircraft valued at $2.2 billion by the end of 2009, a move that CEO Enrique Cueto called a "historical initiative that shows the company's confidence in the development of Latin American countries."

The former LanChile has spent the last several years aggressively expanding throughout Latin America via the creation of mirror airlines in other countries held through joint ventures with local entities.
