Mexico's largest airline remained under the control of government holding company Consorcio Aeromexico, formerly known as Cintra, after purchase bids put forward last year by at least two companies were rejected as too low. In December, Cintra sold off Mexicana and LCC Click (formerly Aerocaribe) to Mexican hotel chain Grupo Posadas. Consorcio Aeromexico plans to conduct another bidding process to divest itself of AeroMexico by the end of the third quarter. A public stock offering was considered but rejected.
