Accompanied by its traditional public relations endeavors, the long-haul carrier launched several new routes over the past 12 months including services from Manchester to Barbados and St. Lucia and its first route into the Middle East--Dubai--from London Heathrow. This month it will add Jamaica from London Gatwick. It also increased frequencies on several existing routes.

The company managed to get its Nigerian venture into the sky. Virgin Nigeria, owned 49% by Virgin Atlantic Airways and 51% by Nigerian institutional investors, commenced operations in June 2005 and now flies to three domestic and six international destinations from its Lagos hub. …
