Opening of a connecting hub at London Stansted, creation of a holding company structure and a public share flotation were among key accomplishments of the past 12 months for Germany's second-largest airline and Europe's third-largest budget carrier.

The IPO took place May 11 at a price of [euro]12 per share, raising [euro]510 million. The airline launched its hub at Stansted last December, offering domestic services within the UK to Manchester and Glasgow while creating connections to half-a-dozen cities in Germany and Austria. It subsequently started service from Stansted to Belfast last May. It operates around 350 flights per day on 135 routes from 74 airports with a fleet of 737s and A320s that is expected to number 79 by 2009, up from 55 at the end of March. …
