Delivery of the first A380 at the end of 2006 and entry into service on the Sydney-Singapore-London route in 2007 will certainly be a high point for SIA, which saw its profit for the year to last March 31 dip just 8% to S$1.24 billion ($791.3 million) as revenues rose 11% to S$13.34 billion on a 7% hike in RPKs. But the A380's late arrival--SIA originally hoped to put it into service two months ago--and delays in follow-on deliveries mean SIA will have to adjust plans accordingly.

SIA said that disappointment with Airbus over the A380's lateness was not a factor in its decision last month to sign an MOU for 20 firm and 20 option 787-9s rather than choosing the A350 as Airbus had hoped. …
