Touting itself as the "first and only" LCC in the Middle East and North Africa region, the Sharjah-based carrier returned its first full-year profit in 2005 with net income of $8.7 million. CEO Adel Ali called the results "spectacular" and said the company will continue "controlling our cost base ruthlessly" as it grows. It took delivery of its first A320 early this year and is slated to receive three more by year end, bringing its total fleet to eight aircraft.


Air Arabia launched in 2003, posted breakeven results for 2004 and in March carried its 2 millionth passenger. …
