Swiss International Air Lines said it posted a loss before interest and taxes of CHF122 million ($102.5 million) in 2004, much improved compared to an operating loss of CHF498 million before restructuring costs in 2003. Special items that affected the 2004 figure include charges of CHF174 million related to impairments for regional aircraft and buildings largely offset by nonrecurring income of CHF163 million including book gains of CHF68 million related to a legal settlement and CHF95 million in nonrecurring income in the fourth quarter largely related to gains from the transfer of slots at London Heathrow to British Airways. …
