TO BE FAIR, THE SECURITY TEAM AT PARIS Charles de Gaulle did not put a bomb in some unsuspecting passenger's bag. They did, however, slip a packet of plastic explosive about the size of a mobile phone into a bag to test their bomb-sniffing dogs. Then they lost the bag.

The security force was working with one dog down in the baggage processing room and he did just fine, the Associated Press reported. But when they left to get a second dog, the bag guys kept doing what they usually do--that is, unless I have arrived at CDG, an event that automatically triggers the start of an "industrial action." The bag was loaded on an airplane and went on to a myriad list of possible destinations. …
