Police mistakes and employee corruption apparently played key roles in permitting bombladen Chechen terrorists to board separate passenger flights at Moscow Domodedovo on Aug. 24. Both aircraft, a Sibir Airlines Tu-154 and a Volga-Aviaexpress Tu-134, were destroyed in midair by plastic explosives believed to have been concealed in the clothing of two Chechen women.

According to press reports, the two suspected terrorists were detained by police when they arrived for their flights at Domodedovo but subsequently were released without being searched. …
