AACO deplores terrorism. (Arab Air Carriers Organization; includes related article on telecommunications industry deregulation)

CAIRO--Despite ample opportunity for dissension, the 18 members at the 24th Arab Air carriers Organization (AACO) annual general meeting adopted a common stance stressing the paramount need for maintaining air-transport safety standards.

Other examples of AACO's preoccupation with safety came when deep concern was expressed about the effect of United Nations embargoes on spare parts for airlines, notably Iraqi Airways and Libyan Arab Airlines, and terrorism was deplored unanimously.

The sanctions crisis prevented the head of Libyan Arab from attending and the airline had only two executives in its delegation. It also prevented Egyptian Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Fouad Sultan from opening the meeting formally. …
