A new aviation industrial complex with runway access to Changi International Airport is Singapore's latest project toward developing the republic as Asia/Pacific's major aircraft-maintenance base.

The new site, known as the Changi Aviation Industrial Complex, covers an area of 56.5 hectares plus an additional 36.8 hectares without runway access. Civil-engineering works are expected to be completed by midyear.

The site is at the southern end of the airport, close to the Loyang aerospace estate, where many of the 50 international aerospace companies already here have established component repair, overhaul and servicing facilities.
