US, China ink new ASA.(Air Services Agreement)(Brief Article)

The US and China on June 18 inked a "landmark" air services agreement that, according to the US Dept. of Transportation, will more than double the number of US airlines that may serve China, permit a nearly fivefold boost in weekly flights between the countries over the next six years and substantially increase the "doing business" freedoms of US carriers in China, including the right for US cargo airlines to establish hubs there.

The agreement became effective immediately and talks will resume in 2006 to review the relationship and make further progress on liberalization. …
