The new airline launched operations last Oct. 28 with a flight from Sharjah to Bahrain. It was established eight months earlier by decree of Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, ruler of Sharjah and a member of the supreme council of the United Arab Emirates, as the third commercial airline in the UAE after Emirates in Dubai and Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi.

The Sharjah-based carrier bills itself as the region's first frills-free airline. …
