By 2015, low-cost carriers and Regional airlines will account for nearly half of the US airline market, according to the latest FAA forecast released in March. "The writing is on the wall," said Director-Policy and Planning John Rodgers. "Low-cost carriers are here to stay."

Additionally, the forecast said the number of people flying in the US will reach pre-9/11 levels by 2005 and top 1 billion annually by 2014. Total aircraft operations at FAA and contract towers combined are forecast to return to pre-9/11 levels in 2006 and commercial operations in 2005. …
