Singapore Airlines Group shook off any lingering effects of SARS in its fiscal third quarter to Dec. 31, posting a profit attributable to shareholders of S$377.9 million ($223.4 million), more than double the S$180 million earned in the year-earlier period.

Improvement was owing primarily to cost reductions and a weak third quarter in 2002 because of the terrorist bombings in Bali in Oct. of that year. Group revenues grew 1.8% to S$2.76 billion while total operating expenses fell 9.9% to S$2.29 billion. As a result, operating profit totaled S$473. …
