BA seeks more savings.(British Airways business plan, forecasts and earnings)(Brief Article)

British Airways at the end of Jan. announced a 2004-06 Business Plan targeting 300 million [pounds sterling] ($546.9 million) in new cost savings, including a 30% cut in employee costs in head office and support functions and a 15% reduction in operational areas. The airline said it envisages "the size of the current flying program being maintained." Options to achieve any headcount reductions will include unpaid leave, part-time work, early retirement and voluntary severance. "We have shown we are able to meet our targets through voluntary means and that will remain our aim," CEO Rod Eddington said.
