Airbus is tops in deliveries and orders.(aircraft industry)(Brief Article)

In what it rightfully described as a "landmark year," Airbus surpassed Boeing as the world's leading manufacturer of large civil aircraft in 2003, delivering 305 worth 19.3 billion [euro] ($24.4 billion), up from 303 in 2002 and exceeding Boeing's 2003 delivery total of 281 civil transports, down from 381 in 2002.

Airbus also surpassed Boeing in terms of new orders, achieving 284 firm orders last year versus 240 for the US manufacturer. In 2002 Airbus booked 300 orders against 251 for Boeing. On a net basis, taking cancellations into account, Boeing's 2003 orders dropped by one unit to 239 while Airbus's fell by 30 to 254. …
