Canadian airlines markets frequent-flier program.

A fully automated frequent-flier program, which can provide awards for members within hours of their request and can give airlines both significant cost savings and a completely up-to-date customer database, is being marketed to carriers around the world by the Technology Services division of Canadian Airlines International. "We're getting a lot of inquiries and we expect to make our first sales by the end of the year," says Ed Chan, Technology Services marketing consultant. He believes that CAI'S is the only frequent-flier package currently being offered for sale.

The many virtues of the standalone Canadian Plus system, which was implemented by the airline in August, 1990, arise from the fact that it was developed on the Texas Instruments IEF (information-engineering facility) CASE (computer-assisted software engineering) tool, says Chan. …
