ANZ/Qantas alliance shot down by NZ regulators.(Brief Article)

Air New Zealand's hopes of securing an alliance with Qantas appear to be all but dead after the New Zealand Commerce Commission in late Oct. vetoed the A$550 million ($384.9 million) deal, saying it would result in a substantial lessening of competition in the NZ and transtasman markets. It was rejected earlier by the Australian competition authority.

ANZ and Qantas now are considering whether to appeal to the NZ High Court as well a reviewing their recently lodged appeal with the Australian Competition Tribunal. …
