METRO SUES AMERICAN FOR BREACH OF CONTRACT

Metro Airlines has sued American Airlines for breaching several aspects of its existing marketing agreement, including a provision that allows it to remain an American Eagle carrier at Dallas/Ft. Worth for the next decade.

Specifically, the suit claims that American reneged on its agreement to extend Metro's American Eagle contract at Dallas for 10 years and for not allowing a Metro subsidiary to become an American Eagle carrier in Miami, where American has operated for two years. In addition, Metro and its wholly owned subsidiary Metroflight claim that American is violating antitrust law by using its power illegally to eliminate competition at DFW. …
